The reason why there is alot of noise is because you didn't use a DSL filter. I had the same problem then remembered i didnt' hook up a DSL filter to it. I just tried it and it works great now. I gave it 4 stars because i haven't used it for very long. But so far so good. I hope this help you get clearity on why there is alot alot of noise when messages are being recorded and playback!!!

Now I have this great looking white wall phone on my white wall with a black powercord that attaches to the top of the phone and hangs down to the wall outlet. It looks terrible. Without the powercord, the speaker doesn't work and the lack of backlighting on the LCD makes it almost impossible to read.

This item (sold by amazon.com), according to the tracking code provided by Amazon, was sent to the Whitestown, IN site on February 10. It was scanned "arrival" (no location listed) on February 14 and scanned "arrival" (no location listed) again on February 17.

On February 16, I checked tracking and the expected delivery date was February 17 (!).

Today, February 19, amazon.com still says expected delivery date of February 17.

The USPS told me that it had only arrived at my local office on Feb. 19 (this morning). Since it was shipped parcel post it could take up to 14 BUSINESS days to be delivered. If it gets delivered at all. I should call back in two weeks. And no, snow was not a factor in this.

Either amazon's system is screwed up or the shipper's system is screwed up. Either way it is not acceptable. I have never ordered anything listed as coming from amazon.com that was tracked incorrectly or that missed its expected delivery day.

If I ever receive this phone I'll post a review on it.

In the meantime, don't expect delivery for a month or two. If it ever gets delivered at all.

This phone works great. Only complaints are that the volume could be a bit louder, is just barely adequate for speaking with background noise, and for call screening you have to be near the main phone unit to hear the person leaving the message. I love the caller ID announcement (and the pronunciation of names is good for a laugh sometimes), the call blocking feature, and the intercom between all 3 phones.

I had this machine for several years and it worked fine. Then I moved into a new house and it started cutting callers off midstream, as well as cutting messages off mid playback. I figured the machine had gone haywire so I pitched it and bought a new model of the same one. Now I'm having the same problem again immediately. Perhaps it's something with the phone wire, not sure, but I'm definately not happy with the machine.

I have an exact clone of this cheap little thing with the "GE" label on it. It broke within a week, its stuck on "8" messages and none of the buttons work. I called them, they told me to unplug it (I already tried that) then they want me to mail it back to them, I'm not going to bother,by the time i pay the shipping and have no answering machine to use its not worth it. They could have at least put out a call tag for it.

I've owned one of these machines for almost three years now, and I must say I'm pretty pleased. It has held up well depsite constant, daily use. At one point I had two roommates, so we used all three mailboxes!
Two complaints: the outgoing message has become garbled over time, everytime I replace it (new roommates), it seems to get worse. Second, the mailbox feature only works if you select the mailbox before the beep. Unfortunately, there are many people out there, it seems, who can't follow the simple instruction I leave on the outgoing message. So, it's not very "user friendly" in that regard. Intuitively, people wait for the beep.
Other than these two quirks, I must say I'm pleased with this item.
