There is nothing fancy about this answering machine. You can't record a personalized message for example. It is is straight up answering machine that is dead simple to use. Plug it in, set the time and date, number of rings before answering, language (Eng or Spanish) and you are done. It just works. If you are looking for robust features, this is not the product. But, if you just want a inexpensive, straightforward device, you can't beat the price. One thing that bugged me is the phone cord is hard wired. Meaning you can't put a short cord on or replace it (not that I would think it would go bad). For me, I wanted to put a shorter cord on and couldn't.

AT&T 1739 - Corded Digital Answering System Review

Our old AT&T answering machine past away after ten years of good service. Bought this one to replace it. Received it quickly from Amazon. Read the directions and plugged it in. The unit lit up but would not let me set it up as described in the manual. None of the buttons responded. So I gently unplugged it and plugged in the machine again. It never lit up again. It is dead. Used this new answering machine's power adaptor on the old machine and it saw that the power is working so it's not the adaptor. I know it is only $18 but it should work. I guess I'm lucky that it never worked from day one (or in this case, minute one) so that I can get a full refund (at least I hope I can) instead of dying after 3 months. Then you are really out of luck. This is the disappointing part about shopping on the internet. I prob would not have bought the unit at the store. It looks flimsy especially compared side to side w/my older sturdier and better looking AT&T unit. Buyer Beware.

I'm not crazy about headset because it leaves grease marks when you put it to your ear. Otherwise, it's a great phone.

I have had this phone KX-TG6445 for about 3 months.It does everything very nice.no defects were noted.the first thing to remember is never loose the manual.Due to its many features, panasonic devised feature codes to set up things like alarms ,intercom,talking caller id, etc. Feature codes are on 2+ pages on its operating instructions book.Once a feature code is activated the set up is very easy.Again never loose the manual.A very feature packed phone set.Each handset has a number 1 thru 6 .So if you want to use intercom from one handset to another you must know what number is on that particular handset ,in my case i have to remember 5 handsets ,living room has #3 handset.kind of sucks trying to remember which room has a certain number-wish it could be changed to a word not number.I just thought of putting a sticker on the back each handset showing what number phone where it is.Dect 6.0 has excellant range,great clearity.Batterys can be bought anywhere uses aaa rechargeable.I wish i bought this sooner,I really love its features, love its quality,great sound in its speakerphone on base and handsets.large and easy to read displays.now The bad ..useless wall mounting adaptor,the base is flat not angled so it sticks out in the room.please use on some table.also the handsets charging bases can only be used only on tables due to no adaptors to place on walls or hang on telephone outlets. These are very minor issues.It is really a nice phone and do not hesitate to buy.Buy once and this should last a very long time.lastly this unit has the ability for a battery backup power supply for use in a power house failure.how cool is that!can still make calls in an emergency.I have bought phones from other brands and this one beats them all. i bought this referburished from amazon.Afantastic price and it was like new.

After using it for over a little two years, it got fried in a power outage. The message display says "8" and none of the buttons responded. The manual said to unplug power cord and plug it back it. Nothing.

This was purchased for the home office. For the main home number, the answering machine combined with a phone by AT&T survived the power outage.

For years we had a regular land line phone and a separate answering machine. When the machine finally gave its last gap, I decided it was time to get a new phone with answering machine. I looked at various shops in my area but nothing quite met what we wanted, so I decided to check the net. I saw this phone among others. We wanted something fairly simple - don't need a lot of bells and whistles. I liked that the dial tone is reasonably large and easy to use -not tiny keys. It is small and easily sits on a bedside table - and most important - for my husband who has trouble hearing on the phone - the volume is adjustable to use with a hearing aid.

Once set up and programmed, it has proven to be just what I was looking for. The one feature that I feel is overdone is seeing a caller list on the hand receiver-you need to use the menu to view the caller list, then again to delete it - and again if you want to delete all. Not a real complaint - and perhaps typical of all digital phone

I really love the product. It made very well and once you know how to operate it great. I have nothing negative to say about the product itself. The only issue was the instructions. I purchased the product with the understanding it was new and never used, but the lanuage was in spanish and all the messages on the machine were in spanish--they lied it was used.

The instruction did not give detailed information on how to change the lanuage. I had to call the 800 number twice one to change the lanuage and then to change the number of rings.

If the instruction written correctly, I would have had to wait over the weekend to get the information inorder to use the machine. They need to redo the instructions.
