it's just your basic answering maching. i didn't like the fact that it doesn't start screening until someone leaves a message. no outgoing message screening.
the little viewing screen is very hard to read. i bought it used, and it sounded like the little speaker had been blown out. terrible sound.
i don't know if we're allowed to call products junk, or not. but if i knew i could, on this one i would.
I've always liked motorola phones and this is no exception. The phones have good noise quality and set up is a breeze. The answering machine is also very easy to use. The phones are slim and easy to navigate. It was a good choice for us.
I am very happy with this phone. I like the look and feel of this phone. I really like the fact that you can use it as an intercom, call another extention in another room. You can also listen to the messages on the handsets. I can not rate the phonebook feature, I don't use that feature.
This AT&T Answering System CL4939 was easy to set up and I love the large buttons and large desplay screen. I was also pleased with volume control for listening and speaker. The only problem is that there is no battery backup for the time and date clock and we lose power a lot. However, the directory listing of stored phone numbers is never lost so I can live with this. Overall I would recommend it for people who need a wired/corded system.
I purchased these phones almost 2 months ago and they are great. We have a large home so the extensions make it wonderful because you don't have to sprint to get to a phone. The features on the phones are easy to use and it doesn't take a brain surgon to figure them out. I would buy these phones again because they are everything we need in a phone and more. Tutorial GE TL26190 In-Line Coupler (White) Description
The GE in line coupler easily adds a telephone at a different location without installing a new jack. Great for connecting 2 line cords to create a longer cord.
The outgoing message that I tried to record sounded terrible, so I have to use the default outgoing message. To delete a message you hit the on/off button -- not very intuitive as sometimes it just shuts the machine off if your timing is not right. I've had it for over a year, it works fine, but I'm looking to replace it for something of better quality that's easier to use.
We do like the phone, but I would like to see a sound when we have an message and there is no light for the on and off button(hard to find right button in teh dark). Otherwise we are satisfied with the system!
Basically, this machine is funcional for its purpose and has a few good ideas I find usefull. But on the OGM, you have to tell your caller to press * (star) then the number of the mailbox. It would just make sense to press the number without a * or pound or whatever! (Did you get that SONY?) Some people will use their common sense and just press the number of the mailbox they want; the machine responds by recording the message in mailbox 1 and all you hear is the sound of the number being pressed over and over again as the caller can't find out what went wrong! This has happened a lot, even if you clearly state that * must be pressed first. "Press star one, Now!" Sound quality is poor for both OGM and ICM. Hint: call the machine from another phone to record your OGM! I only use this machine because I got it for free as a gift. The machine makes a lot of BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! noise every time you press a button and that gets anoying fast. The voice prompts make the machine easy to use for first time uses; but because you cannot skip them later on, they become time wasters. Nice try for SONY, but a lot of work needs to done with this machine. SONY: call me when you have debugged this machine and don't use * or pound or 0, and don't foreget to press Star then 1.

I'm astonished at all the positive reviews this "answering system":has received. The LED screen may just as well have been omitted; it's utterly unreadable. How, since the telephone has to be plugged in anyway, a light couldn't have been installed is beyond me. You'll also enjoy wading through the instruction manual, clearly written by a resident geek somewhere and terribly difficult to fathom. Worse yet, this seems to be the best phone option out there. Imagine that.
Pros: 1. Doesn't take up much room. 2. Clear voice. 3. Many features 4. Good instruction booklet Cons: 1 Slow dialer 2. Alpha speed dial directory. Sometimes faster to dial the number.
The pros definately outweigh the cons on this one. It takes a little getting used to, but when you do, it is the best I've used. Haven't used the answering machine yet. That's on a different phone in a different part of the house, but I expect it will be as good as the rest of the phone. The screen is very clear and easy to read. Caller ID pops up the name on the screen and the voice ID is clear. As soon as the Uniden that is answering messages goes (and it won't be long. I'll just get an add-on for this.
